Francine Holland has been working with dogs her entire life. As a child, she and her parents earned CD and CDX competition ribbons with their pet dogs. She decided to follow her true passion and pursue a career as a dog trainer. Francine received her certification through the Animal Behavior College. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and an evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen test through the American Kennel Club. Francine has been handling dogs professionally in the Silver Spring area since 2005.
The name Funwalks originated because walking is the foundation of a good relationship with your dog. It should be something you and your dog love. Sometimes it requires work, but with training, it will become easy and fun. If you have children at home, getting them involved in training your dog can teach them important life lessons such as compassion, care, and responsibility.
Let Francine help build the foundation with you using positive reinforcement based training as well as a combination of luring, capturing, and shaping behavior. You and your dog will become proficient in training and learn how to socialize in a safe way. Eventually you will get to the point where you can take your dog almost anywhere or leave him at home without guilt or worry because you know your dog is safe and well behaved. Basic training builds your dog’s confidence, improves your relationship, and allows you to have a fun, full life together.
